Japan sits in the northeastern part of Asia which is between the North Pacific and the Sea of Japan. The capital of Japan is Tokyo which is where most people reside in Japan. If people visiting Japan want a cultural experience then Kyoto and Nara are the best places to visit. Kyoto and Nara are full of temples, shrines, kabuki, tea ceremonies, and museums. All of these great features come from Japan's rich artistic heritage. Now if modern culture and technology is what you are looking for while on vacation, Japan certainly has that as well in their cities. Japan's cities are known as a quick peek into the future for the human race with all of their technology, it is a wonderland. On the outside of these cities visitors will find all of the natural wonders of the world such as coral reefs of Okinawa and the ski resort of Niseko. Then there is the food of Japan which can not be found anywhere else in the world such as the sushi in Tokyo, the perfectly battered tempura in Kyoto, and their hearty bowl of ramen in Osaka.    

Japan has a very gracious hospitality towards their visitors and no matter what you are picturing your Japan vacation to be like there is probably that scene somewhere to be found in Japan. The weather in Japan is usually in the northern temperate zone which has four distinct seasons. Spring season is the best time to go to Japan due to the climate being perfect for most people. In the Spring time in Japan the famous cherry trees start to bloom which a lot of people like to see. Autumn is the next best time to visit Japan.

Imperial Palace in Japan

Japan has an Imperial Palace which is located in the center of Tokyo and stands on a large site that still has remains of Edo Castle. Edo Castle was the stronghold of the Tokugawa shogunate. The Imperial Palace that stands today has been completely finished since 1988. The palace is also still until this day the home of the emperor of Japan. The Imperial Palace is off limits to the public but the surrounding area and open space is a great green area for the city with Higashi Gyoen which is also called the East Garden and it is open to the public. There are guided tours of the palace available for anyone that is interested but they are only given in Japanese, however, there are English pamphlets handed out. The tours must be reserved in advance through the Imperial Household Agency.  

Tokyo Disney is one of the most popular theme parks in Japan along with one of the most popular in the world. Tokyo Disney includes Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo DisneySea, Ikspiari, Bon Voyage!, Cirque de Soleil, Official Disney Hotels, and many other hotels. Tokyo Disneyland is very similar to the Disneyland in California and the DisneySea is a new ocean themed park that was added in 2001. Ikspiari is very similar to Downtown Disney in Florida with shopping and restaurants. Tokyo Disney is located in the great part of Tokyo called Chiba. The Tokyo Disney has a lot of the same rides and attractions as the Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California plus a lot of their own attractions as well.  

Tokyo Dome is a huge stadium that seats about 55,000 people and it is located in Bunkyo Ward which is in Tokyo. The Tokyo Dome is the home of the Yomiuri Giants baseball team. The Dome has also hosted many other baseball teams as well along with basketball and football too. The Dome also has Martial Arts events, Kickboxing events, music concerts, and many others. The Dome was originally called "The Big Egg" but not many people call it that anymore. The Dome first opened for business on March 17, 1988 and stands on the site of its predecessor, Korakuen Stadium. Just in the year 2005 the Atlanta Falcons and the Indianapolis Colts played in the stadium which was the first NFL preseason game of the year. The Dome is also the largest concert facility in Japan.  

The Museum of Contemporary Art is located in Miyoshi, Tokyo. It is a public museum that features contemporary art. The museum opened in 1995 and was open on the site of metropolitan Kiba Park. The exhibits and works of art are featured on stuff from after 1945. This is the largest art museums in Japan with a total of 33,515 square meters of floor area. There are a total of 10 permanent exhibition rooms that are located on the first and third floor. The first floor gives visitors the chance to follow 30 years of changing art. The third floor is where visitors can see the different trends of  contemporary art. When the museum first opened they spend a large amount of money on Girl with Hair Ribbon by Roy Lichtenstein.

The Ghibli Museum is located in Mitaka which is a western suburb of Tokyo, Japan. The museum first opened in 2001 and is listed as a fine arts museum but this is not a regular fine arts museum. This is a fine arts museum that is created as playful and has many features that are child oriented. The museum stands by the saying "Lets become lost children together" which is the museums motto and is posted on their website. In the English leaflet it is translated as "Lets lose our way together", either way it is a playful and relaxing motto. It is an open museum that has no set path or way to view the exhibits. The museum features permanent exhibitions, short films, and many other features such as a book store, souvenir gift shop, and a themed restaurant called The Straw Hat Cafe.   

The Hamarikyu Gardens is a public park located in Tokyo, Japan and it is conveniently situated at the mouth of the Sumida River in Chuo-ku. This public park and garden opened up on April 1, 1946 and is a total of 250,165 m2. The garden is perfectly landscaped and surrounded by Shioiri Pond which is a small sea water moat that is filled by the Tokyo Bay. In the 17th century this was made into a public garden on the property of the Shogun Tokugawa family. The park and garden is a place where visitors can go to find peace and forget the passage of time. There is a refreshing tea shop in Nakashima which is located in the middle of the pond that offers macha and Japanese sweets. If the visitors are interested there is also an exhibit that shows how the Japanese goshawk traditional hunting techniques are done.

The Meiji Jingu Shrine is a very popular attractions in Tokyo, Japan and is known to be very picturesque as well. The shrine is very easy to get to by train and this is the most popular shrine in Japan. The shrine was built in a garden where the Emperor named Meiji and his wife Empress Shoken would visit every so often before their deaths in 1912 and 1914. The shrine was built out of respect after their deaths in the Nagarezukuri style. THe building was constructed mostly of Japanese cypress from Kiso. There are two parts to the shrine which consist of the inner precinct and/or garden and the outer precinct and/or garden. The inner precinct consist of a treasure museum and the outer precinct holds traditional Japanese weddings, a gallery and much more.
